Homeless Relief

Aspire are doing more than ever before to tackle the growing homeless crisis in our community. We work in partnership with local councils and other homeless organisations to reach those most in need.

Here's how we are providing homeless relief in Oxfordshire:

Multi-agency hub for rough sleepers

In September 2018, Aspire helped to launch a new multi-agency hub in central Oxford which provides housing and employment advice for rough sleepers. We are working with Oxford City Council and other agencies to offer specialist help to people who are sleeping rough. Our enterprise teams helped to refurbish the hub ready for opening, and we're thrilled to be part of this new project.

Supported housing

Aspire is working with A2Dominion and Oxford City Council to manage a six bed property for rough sleepers who can't usually access local homeless services. We are also providing them with specialist employment and access to work experience, with the aim of supporting people to move on into sustainable jobs and housing.

Will’s story

When Will first came to Aspire he had been sleeping under a bridge in Oxford for 6 years and had little hope for his situation changing. We have been able to support Will to find safe housing into our new 6 bed accommodation as well as giving him the specialist help and advice he needs to leave homelessness behind him for good.

Will has already started to gain some work experience and develop his skills by going out with Aspire's enterprise teams. Engaging with Aspire has helped Will gain some stability and structure in his life, and he will be supported to move towards employment and long term housing.

I am very grateful for Aspire, they have given me new hope and my future looks a lot brighter!

Emergency accommodation in winter months

Aspire will be helping to provide extra emergency accommodation for rough sleepers in Oxford city this winter, as part of the Oxford City Council's Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP).

The future

Aspire are rapidly expanding our homeless relief initiatives, working with others to use bold and innovative approaches to achieve lasting change. If you would like to speak to us about any of our homelessness projects, or discuss how we could work with your organisation to expand our impact tackling the homeless crisis in Oxfordshire, please contact Paul Reid, Homelessness Preventions Programme Manager.
