Aspire Oxfordshire is now working with Connection Support to deliver a combined Homeless Prevention Service for Oxfordshire.

This service brings together Aspire’s previous Homelessness Prevention Service and Connection Support’s Housing Support Service into one joined-up offer for people who are at risk of homelessness or rough sleeping.

The change came into effect on 5 May 2026.

About Homelessness Prevention service

The Homeless Prevention Service supports people who are at risk of losing their accommodation or who are not currently in secure housing.

The service focuses on helping people understand their housing situation, explore their options, access appropriate support, and take steps to prevent homelessness wherever possible.

Support may include help with housing-related issues, benefits, budgeting, tenancy challenges, and wider support needs.

Who the service is for

The service will prioritise people who are at risk of homelessness or rough sleeping within the next three months.

This may include:

  • single people at risk of losing their accommodation
  • people who are vulnerably housed
  • people living in privately rented accommodation who are at risk of homelessness
  • people experiencing hidden homelessness, including sofa-surfing or living in a vehicle
  • people preparing to leave prison, hospital, care, or another institution
  • households with non-dependent children

Families with dependent children may be directed to Connection Support’s Family Homeless Prevention Service or other appropriate support.

Aspire’s role

Aspire’s prevention colleagues continue to be part of this work, supporting the delivery of homelessness prevention across Oxfordshire as part of the Connection Support team.

This partnership approach is designed to make support more joined-up for people who are facing housing insecurity.

How to make a referral

Closing note

Preventing homelessness remains a vital part of Aspire’s work. While the structure of the service has changed, the aim remains the same: helping people access the right support before their housing situation reaches crisis point.
