Employment and housing charity Aspire Oxfordshire’s Homelessness Prevention team recognise the challenges of seasonal work and festive expenses, especially for people living alone, and are encouraging people living alone and experiencing financial struggles to get in touch with the team for advice and support.

Christmas can put pressure on budgets as many prioritise the festive season over rent and bill payments, hoping to catch up later. With zero-hour and seasonal contracts typically ending with the holiday season, financial strain in January can increase significantly, leaving those living alone feeling isolated and reluctant to seek support. Aspire’s Homelessness Prevention team offers compassionate housing advice and steadfast assistance to those feeling financial pressure in the New Year.

Ian Barnard, Homelessness Prevention Manager at Aspire, says:

“We understand that the financial burden of the holiday season can be overwhelming - especially for those living on their own. We aim for our team to be a beacon of hope and assistance for anyone struggling with their housing situation. We are not just here to offer advice - we’re here to walk alongside those in our community as they navigate these challenging times. We invite anyone in need of guidance to reach out to us; you are not alone in this.”
