Volunteers from Grant Thornton have helped Aspire to give a new lease of life to our young people’s supported accommodation project.

Aspire’s ‘Our House’ project has a simple mission: to give marginalised young people a proper place to stay. Based in Witney, the project supports young people who have faced extremely difficult circumstances, ranging from homelessness to substance abuse.

For these young people, ‘Our House’ offers crucial safety and security. But it provides more than just a roof over their heads. With a safe place to call their own, young people are more able to think about their futures. That’s where Aspire’s Witney Hub comes in, providing tailored support towards work, education, and more. In tandem, the Hub and Our House don’t just provide stable accommodation. They also provide a real pathway to lasting change.

Aspire believes that one of the best ways to support young clients is to build a community of supportive, engaged organisations and people. That’s why we recently welcomed staff from Accountancy firm Grant Thornton to the Our House project for a volunteer day. Grant Thornton staff rolled up their sleeves to help repaint communal areas and kitchens. Two volunteers from Grant Thornton also attended a separate Aspire property, offering further refurbishment support.

The new coat of paint will ensure that young clients can continue to feel proud of – and comfortable in – Our House properties. In focusing on shared areas, we ensure that they can develop community with their peers, helping to reduce isolation and loneliness.

Lindsay Phillips, Our House Project Manager, said: “We really appreciate the volunteers from Grant Thornton coming to lend a hand at Our House. They’ve helped us to make clients feel more welcomed and secure in the property. It’s great to see the community get involved in helping out young people in need.”
